International Compost Awareness Week

International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry. It is celebrated each year in the first full week of May and is a multi-media publicity and education event that showcases composting and compost products. It features everything from composting in your backyard to large-scale commercial composting facilities and businesses serving entire communities.

In 2017,  ICAW takes place between 7-13 May. The theme is Compost! Healthy Soil, Healthy Food. Watch this space for more updates.

Download the 2017 manual to give you some ideas and tips on how to celebrate and promote an event!

Minister Hunt exclaimed:

"International Compost Awareness Week is an opportunity for us all to consider the easy steps we can take in our own homes to reduce our contribution to landfill.
Composting is a simple measure every household can adopt, which has enormous benefits to our natural environment and helps to reduce our carbon footprint.
I encourage people to use International Compost Awareness Week as an opportunity to start their own composting system and play their part in reducing their household landfill contribution.”

To get involved in 2017, please contact AORA and we'll ensure you're included.  Please see 2016 ICAW information below for ideas and opportunities.
